A nice horror comedy from the past

I haven't ever heard anything about this movie. But once in a while taking a chance with one of the older movies gives one a fun experience like with this amusing comedy. The movie isn't scary. It is just a comedy. But I am sure watching it for a child can be both funny and scary, and it is family friendly to watch with a kid as well. If kids are willing to watch old movies these days of course. I am pretty sure this is the first movie with Don Knotts that I watched. And I was impressed by his comedic skills. He is great in physical comedy where he can make his faces and movements alone be pretty funny. The haunted house as well as comedy scenes seem to be typical of that time. This also includes the court scene that brought a lot of laughter, the elevator scene which also showed Don Knott's great performance as well as the communism joke that made me laugh and pretty excited when I thought about the times when it was made.

Hilarious From The Start!

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (1966) is a Comedy/Family/Mystery/Romance starring Don Knotts as Luther Heggs. It's about a man named Luther who wants so badly to be a reporter. Everyone just makes fun of him until finally, his moment has arrived! His editor has assigned him to spend the night at the Simmons Mansion which was the location of a murder-suicide 20 years earlier. The acting, plot, and dialogue are creative, hilarious, and unbelievably entertaining. I very much enjoyed the performance of the main actor Don Knotts and his authentic portrayal of an awkward man who is not like everybody else but wants to be seen as a success. I fell in love with his character. The plot was riveting and the dialogue suspenseful and comical both at the same time. Most viewers will be able to relate to this in some way as well all feel that we are not good enough. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of either the comedy or mystery genre. You would also enjoy The Ghost and The Chicken if you are interested in the supernatural. This is a movie that adults will enjoy watching on their own. Since this movie is G rated and does not contain violence and profanity that would make it unsuitable for children, this is a feature film that the entire family will enjoy. The actors, the plot, and the dialogue are certainly the highlights of The Ghost and The Chicken. Even though the main actor is a marvel and steals the show, the entire cast is entertaining and hilarious. It's one of the rare times that you will see such a perfect cast...

Good if you enjoy Don Knotts

Don Knotts plays a fraidy cat typesetter at a local newspaper who wants to be a reporter, but who has a history of being hysterical and getting his stories wrong. Knotts gets his big shot at writing a story when his editor has him spend the night in a local haunted house where a murder-suicide occurred. Don again gets the story wrong and causes all sorts of trouble, the least of which is ruining his chances with his crush, Joan Staley. Overall, there's nothing brilliant here, but if you find Don Knotts funny, which I do, you'll enjoy this one.
